Beth was the mother of four children. Beth had been feeling quite anxious lately and began to "medicate" herself by drinking four or five bottles of beer every night after she tucked her children into bed. After approximately four weeks of this drinking routine, she eventually grasped the fact that instead of helping her relax and "muddle through" her problems, drinking alcohol made her feel less rested when she awakened. This, in turn, made her feel even more tense all through the day.

After thinking about her "condition" for three or four weeks, Beth made up her mind to talk about her drinking problem with her best friend. In fact, roughly thirty minutes into their chat, Beth's friend Jordyn, told her that she knew about an extremely competent and skillful doctor at the local drug and alcohol abuse treatment center. After talking to her friend, Beth almost instantly got motivated to call the treatment facility and schedule an appointment.

Twelve days later she eventually got to meet the doctor her friend had talked about. After their brief introduction, Beth told the psychiatrist that ever since her husband and she divorced one another, she has been having a very hard time psychologically, financially, and spiritually.

As Beth was talking to the doctor, she underscored the point that she really believed that they dated long enough to know each other good enough before they got married. After the kids started to arrive, to the contrary, their relationship seemed to fall apart. Moreover, both Robert and she started to drink, and their excessive and abusive drinking negatively impacted their love for one another, their finances, and their relationship.

The doctor explained to Beth that the alcohol poisoning symptoms she has been experiencing are due to her careless drinking. The doctor also told Beth that her alcohol withdrawal symptoms are some of the more typical symptoms of alcoholism and that the most effective solution for this is alcohol rehab.

After spending six months in residential alcohol treatment, Beth was slowly but surely able to realize that the real origin of her tension and her depression was the fact that she had not worked through her hostile feelings she has expressed for her former husband who had divorced her. In a word, Beth let these feelings upset her to such an extent that she became an individual addicted to alcohol.

Armed with these insights and with the medications her psychiatrist prescribed, she finally refrained from drinking, she began to feel considerably less depressed, and she started making more time for social activities with her family and friends. Not only this but a few months after getting treatment from her doctor, she even started to date once again.

It was clear that Beth had come a long way. In truth, just around six months after she stopped her therapy, she had finally laid the negative emotions of her ex-husband to rest and was beginning to feel better about herself and more spiritually"alive" and psychologically "together" than she had ever felt in her life.
