Auto Accident - Serious Auto Collisions Can Transform Your Life In A Split Second

Though I have not ever been in a serious auto accident, I have been in one that may have been significant had things been just a little bit different. I consider myself fortunate, and I hope this is not a thing that I ever need to go through, and I hope no-one in my family has that sort of bad luck either. Nobody wants to go through an auto crash; you need to know it is a possibility. I stress about them the most in winter. We live in a place where everybody thinks they can manage the snow, and they go speeding through it as if they were invincible. They are often proven incorrect.

It appeared there was a rash of collisions when I was a teen-ager. It might have been that people didn't have lots of money and bought predominantly used cars - and while used cars can be completely safe, buying used cars will not ever be utterly as trustworthy as purchasing new vehicles. I lived in a really small town, and our graduating classes averaged less than one hundred students every year. Everyone pretty much knew everybody else, and this wasn't just constrained to those in your class. It seemed that each year there was at the least one fatal automobile crash, and it was always fatal. The saddest part was that each auto accident seemed to be linked to drinking. There was not much else to do in our city, so everybody drank. Lots of people in my school died because of it.

I can't say I was much better. Though I didn't drive, I did ride around with those who had done so. I was not what you might call a dim-witted person either. Teenagers know the risks of an automobile collision but they just don't imagine it can happen to them. I just not ever thought I was in danger, and I was lucky that the only auto crash I was in was quite minor, and equally blessed in that no-one got hurt. Icy highways were to blame for that collision, and thankfully no-one had been drinking.

If you worry about your children being involved in an auto crash, you have a right to worry. The smartest teens in the world make some poor choices. That is all a part of growing up. You need to warn them of the risks of drinking and being in a vehicle, and you have to let them know that an auto accident can happen at any time. This may not be enough though, and that means you have to ensure you know where your kids are and what they are doing all the time. This may mean making them stay home when their buddies are out. They might say they dislike you for it, but it's all part of being a good parent. Personally, I would prefer a mad child to a dead kid.
