Iscar is announcing a new unique milling system utilizing tangential, clamped, butterfly-shaped LNKX carbide inserts. The butterfly-shaped insert has meaningful advantages in comparison to the current flat, square shapes. The new geometry has more cutting edges, positive rake face, decreased cutting forces resulting in elevated performance. The carbide inserts are screw-clamped on the edge of varied milling cutter types, providing prime conditions also for heavy-duty applications with outstanding surface quality, saving additional finishing operations. End mills are available for 90 degree shoulder milling and for facing with 45 degree lead angles.

Each carbide insert has eight cutting edges, 4 for right-hand and 4 for left-hand cutting, enhancing the economy of use. The two, toward-center-slanted cutting edges provide on one side strong and definitive clamping of insert in the tool body, and on the other side, the positive axial rake angle. The use of this positive axial rake composition decreases the cutting forces due to softer cut and easier penetration into the material, as well as changing force direction which is mandatory for use on up-to-date machining centers with pallet systems less stable than on the traditional transfer lines.

In regular applications like in the automotive industry, the depth-of-cut is less than thirty thousandths of an inch facilitating the use of all eight cutting edges of the Tangmill carbide inserts. Furthermore, in the automotive industry it is routine to use a pair of cutters, one for right- and one for left-handed operations, which means that all 8 cutting edges of the Tangmill inserts can be implemented.

New ISCAR UPGRADES for Fast Metal Removal

Newly born developments coming from the headquarters of Iscar, delivering the new Upgrade movement, which guarantees that they are looking toward the future. The new Upgrade movement, scheduled to be released at the end of year 2008, will offer brand new tools for milling, turning, hole making and multifunction operations, complementing the FMR (Fast Metal Removal) tool families with one aim in mind - to enhance productivity on the shop floor and to expand profits.

Iscar's feature for this year, with no doubt, are the new coatings, new substrate formations, new cutting edge geometries, new sizes, new tangential clamping mechanisms and new coolant nozzle capabilities. Iscar's future trends combine new carbide insert grades for efficient and cost-effective machining, more cutting edges per insert and upper-level tangential clamping systems which can significantly decrease the cutting stresses. The inception of the AL-TEC, PVD coating principally for nodular cast iron, a-TECH, CVD coating chiefly for grey cast iron and the DO-TECH, dual CVD PVD coating for enhanced strength will change the way manufacturers machines cast iron. In addition, Iscar offering mini inserts is a different progression within the Upgrade campaign, referring to reducing the sizes of the Tangmill carbide inserts into Minitang, in order to aid fine pitch configuration which will accelerate feed rates. In addition, the compact size of the carbide inserts and their tangential position in the pockets make possible a much bigger core diameter, in terms of tool design, when compared to routine radially oriented inserts.

Iscar Announces A Completely New Line Of Slitting Cutters Using Tang-Grip Technology And The Sturdiness Of Sumo Tec Grades
Iscar at this time offers a family of high-performance slitting tools that merge the convenience and security of Tang-Grip clamping with the added sturdiness of the new Sumo Tec insert grades. The idea, already validated successful in Tang-Grip parting tools, has now been extended to slitting cutters.

The Newest In Carbide Endmill Designs In A Extended And Successful Family From Iscar
Manufacturers and die & mold shops can annihilate chatter problems in countless milling operations with Iscar's brand new Chatterfree endmills. The cutters' variable-pitch flute pattern annihilates harmonic vibration, the main source of chatter. This empowers faster cutting and finer finish in rough or finish slotting, shoulder milling and cavity milling.

Cutting Edge End Mills Coming From Iscar Will Expand Productivity While Shrinking Costs
Manufacturers and die & mold shops can remove chatter problems in several milling operations with Iscar's revolutionary Chatterfree end mills. The cutters' variable-pitch flute pattern eliminates harmonic vibration, the main source of chatter. This enables faster cutting and finer finish in rough or finish slotting, shoulder milling and cavity milling.

Cutting Edge Cutters And Carbide Insert Compositions From Iscar To Better Enhance The Machining Process
Iscar is introducing Penta 34 carbide inserts by having a unique PB chipformer. The PB chipformer incorporates a single cavity using a positive rake, neutral shoulder angle, and a honed edge. It is actually a C-type chipformer with a dissimilar frontal edge.
