Manufacturers and die & mold shops can banish chatter problems in many milling operations with Iscar's cutting edge Chatterfree carbide endmill. The cutters' variable-pitch flute pattern annihilates harmonic vibration, the principal source of chatter. This enables faster cutting and finer finish in rough or finish slotting, shoulder milling and cavity milling. In addition, customers also report longer edge life due to reduced chatter. The chatter-free aspect is presented in both solid carbide endmills and tips in Iscar's MULTI-MASTER replaceable-tip family. Diameter range is 6 to 20mm for the solid carbide endmills, and 8 to 20mm for MULTI-MASTER tips. These new endmills are perfect for reduced power machines with ISO40 or BT40 adaptations. The solid carbide variant can handle full slot machining up to 2xD. Depth capability on the replaceable-tip variant is more limited since the active length is shorter. In full slotting functions on alloy steel, the solid carbide version successfully handles 0.03-0.05 feed rates at 180-220mm/min surface speed and 2xD depth of cut.

FINISHRED - Revolutionary Solid Carbide Endmills

Iscar is introducing the EFR.. B44 and the MM EFS.. Finishred a innovative solid carbide endmill family. The Finishred carbide endmill is a blending of both roughing and finishing endmills in a single tool. Roughing endmills remove material from work pieces more swiftly and efficiently than typical endmills. However, roughing endmills leave grooves on the machined surface. Hence, after using a roughing endmill, a finishing endmill has to be used in order to obtain a flush surface finish. This means time-consuming tool change, setup time and necessity of maintaining 2 endmill types in the inventory.

Features of the Finishred Endmills:

The EFR.. B44 and the MM EFS.. endmills feature four flutes with 45 degree helix, two serrated flutes and 2 continuous flutes.

The cutting edges of the finishing flutes are radially further from the tool axis than the cutting edges of the serrated flutes. The finishing flutes eliminate the grooves caused by the roughing flutes, leaving a smooth surface finish.

The tool is fully efficient and enables running at rough machining parameters, resulting in finish surface quality.

The extraordinary tool design lessens vibration at high load applications.

The tool creates short and long chips simultaneously. This chip mixture is evacuated more readily than each individual chip type, an excellent solution in slotting and cavity milling applications.

The Finishred is also presented with the Multi-Master indexable milling head option which merges the Finishred includes with the advantage of little setup time, no regrinding costs and the large range of shank and extension choices are available for the Multi-Master milling heads.

A single tool substitutes the roughing and finishing endmills; therefore reducing stock.

Tool change and setup time can be discarded.

An extra tool position is gained on the machine

New Chip Splitting Solid Carbide Endmills for increased Metal Removal Rates

ISCAR is introducing the ECP-3/4L family of chip splitting endmills. The revolutionary endmills are available with 3 and 4 38 degree flutes in grade IC900. They feature 2xD and long shanks with diminished neck diameter, which enable machining along high shoulders, at high feeds. These endmills, due to their chip splitting function and force distribution can be used very effectively on reduced power machines (CAT40/BT40/ISO40). The serrated cutting edge features flat peaks which leave a better surface finish, in relation to the current rougher carbide endmill. The ECP endmills are recommended for machining austenitic and martensitic stainless steel, at up to 2xD depth of cut. They can be used on alloyed steel as well. All of the preceding tests conducted at several customers' locations showed incredible results.

Some Of The Several Improvements In Carbide Inserts Coming From Iscar From Over The Last Decade
Iscar is introducing a brand new unique milling system using tangential, clamped, butterfly-shaped LNKX carbide inserts. The butterfly-shaped insert has considerable advantages in comparison to the current flat, square shapes. The new design has additional cutting edges, positive rake face, lowered cutting forces resulting in increased performance.
